Friday, 14 November 2025 – Ronald McDonald House Charities Greater Western Sydney (RMHC GWS) is proud to announce the official opening of its new Ronald McDonald House Family Room in The Children’s Hospital at Westmead.
The new Family Room will provide a dedicated space for families of children receiving hospital treatment to enjoy a nourishing meal at no cost, rest and recharge, and find comfort away from the clinical hospital environment, all while remaining just moments from their child’s bedside.
Facilities and amenities
The new Ronald McDonald House Family Room was fitted out by our Major Partner FDC and features:
- A kitchen stocked with frozen meals and snacks
- Nap rooms for short breaks and rest
- Comfortable lounge and dining areas for moments of calm
- An office space
- Outdoor playground provided in partnership with RhinoPlay
- Laundry facilities with a washing machine and dryer
- A fully accessible bathroom with a shower and toilet
Staffed by dedicated local volunteers, the Family Room will give parents and carers the opportunity to take care of their own wellbeing while remaining close to their child.
This service is one of several new family-centred programs RMHC GWS will open over the next 18 months to meet rising demand for support across Western Sydney.
