Supporting sick children and their siblings

Ronald McDonald Learning Program

A tailored program to help seriously ill children catch up on missed education.

The Ronald McDonald Learning Program (RMLP) assists school-aged children with serious illnesses and injuries to catch up on missed education following treatment and recovery. Providing a suite of educational support services, including therapy sessions and one-on-one tutorials with experienced teachers, the RMLP is tailored to students’ individual needs. We aim to build each child’s confidence and self-esteem in preparation for their return to the classroom. All services are free to families thanks to funding from our generous RMHC supporters.

Tutors play a crucial role in supporting seriously ill and injured children in their education journey. Teachers are paid hourly to tutor students in their school or community, with students receiving up to 40 hours of tutoring.

Spaces and support for learning to continue

Serious childhood illness or injury impacts every area of a family’s life.

For families staying at our Westmead House, we have a Learning Centre on-site and trained educators who run activities and programs daily for sick kids and their siblings. School holidays clinics are also provided on-site. These services are invaluable to parents and children, providing distraction, education, social connection and fun!

Make a Difference for Families & Children

Parents don’t know when their children will need medical help. But they should know they can always access the care they need. With your help, we can support them throughout their journey.
