Your legacy will support families with sick kids for generations to come
Make a lasting impact
A Gift in Will gives families with seriously ill and injured children the best gift of all—each other.
At Ronald McDonald House Charities Greater Western Sydney, we support the whole family, not just the child in hospital. Our programs ease the emotional and financial stress of childhood illness, helping parents, caregivers, and siblings stay close, supported, and strong.
By leaving a Gift in your Will, you’ll create a legacy of compassion, ensuring future generations of families receive the care and comfort they need during their darkest times.

Family-centred care: the RMHC story
In 1974, Dr Audrey Evans, a pioneering paediatric oncologist, shared a powerful belief: a sick child is a sick family. From this idea, Ronald McDonald House Charities was born.
When four-year-old Kim Hill was diagnosed with leukaemia, her parents, Philadelphia Eagles player Fred Hill and his wife Kim, slept on waiting room chairs and ate from vending machines just to stay near her. Moved by their struggle, Eagles GM Jimmy Murray asked Dr Evans what could be done. Her answer: a house near the hospital where families could rest and recharge.
Thanks to a local McDonald’s fundraising effort, the first Ronald McDonald House opened in Philadelphia. It was the beginning of a global movement.
Supporting families in Australia
Seven years later, the first Ronald McDonald House outside North America (and the first in Australia) opened in Camperdown, Sydney. Located near the Royal Alexandra Hospital for Children (now The Children’s Hospital at Westmead), our Camperdown House welcomed around 40 people each night for 14 years before relocating to Westmead in 1996.
"Without this beautiful House, our family would probably have a different story. We will never forget what Ronald McDonald House Westmead has done for Cooper and the family and what they will continue to do for us moving forward. This truly is our second home and our extended family. What you have done for us, I will never forget."
Why a Gift in Will matters more than ever
Despite our efforts, we still have to turn away around 400 families seeking accommodation each year.
We can change that with your help. A Gift in Will can help us expand our reach—opening a new Ronald McDonald House in Campbelltown, launching more Family Rooms and Hospitality Carts in our partner hospitals, and continuing to evolve our services to meet the ever-changing needs of families whose children need healthcare.
Leaving a Gift in your Will is a powerful way to make a lasting difference without impacting your finances today.
